At TLC, we’re committed to doing our part to improving quality, while at the same time reducing waste and helping the environment.
Less Ink Waste
Our large-run printing presses are fitted with cartridge-based ink systems. These airtight cartridges eliminate the need to fill fountains manually — meaning less wasted ink. And leftover ink can be stored for two years without oxidation. Result: our ink usage has been reduced by 30% — and our volume has doubled.
Another way we’ve been able to reduce wasted ink is our unique ink mixing system. Using a sophisticated ink doser and a computerized scale, we can mix as little as 2 grams of ink — which allows us to waste less ink for smaller print jobs. Add a sealed-air system that reduces ink skinning, and you get consistent, quality color each and every time.
Less Pollution
That quality is aided by an automated cleaning system that connects to our presses through a special network of pipes under the floor. Instead of manually replacing the cleaning solution, water moves through the system via reverse osmosis, removing all chemicals and balancing the PH levels. It then becomes part of a mixed fountain solution that treats and cleans the plates. It allows us to ensure better quality and reduce pollution.
Paper Recycling
To help reduce wasted paper, we keep our entire inventory of paper stored in rolls. This allows us to use less paper overall than by using parent sheets.
Any leftover paper we do have is sure to be recycled. In fact, we recycle over 20,000-75,000 tons of paper per month. Not only do we recycle clean remnants, but leftover printed pieces are shredded for client security and recycled as well.
More Recycling
Add in the ability to recycle used printing plates right alongside the pop cans from our employee break room, and you have an environmental commitment you can be proud of.
